Pressure Garment

I had an appointment today for my pressure garment to be fitted and sent off again for improvements.

I am in SO much pain! The orthotist was trying to get it on while my leg was down (so more swollen) and we must have spent over 5 minutes pushing against each other trying to get it over my leg... it's really hurt my leg

Usually, at home I lay on my back and stick my leg in the air for a minute or so until it's gone down to super-slim leg (there's nothing in it except blood really lol) so it was hard work.

Happy with it though - it's much stronger and tighter than the last one the rubbish vascular specialist wanted me to wear and it's got maintained pressure all over instead of going weaker over my abdomen.. it also goes down my other leg as well like a pair of tights but the left leg is cut off above the knee.

Makes my butt look really small!!

And with it on it will mean you can never be too far away from a loo (assuming here that it has the same effect as holdy inny knickers)

lol - i never thought about that... hmmm - we shall see. I've always worn PGs but never noticed needing the loo...

It will be a lot better for me though and we'll just have to see how much it helps - it could even improve my mobility so fingers crossed!

Hope it helps you Lottie.

I have lymph oedema in my right arm and have to wear a pressure bandage plus a gauntlet (which is like a fingerless glove) - dead sexy

When I put the sleeve on I keep punching myself in the chin because it's so tight I do find though, that it really helps when my arm is aching.

I've had them before and they usually help with the general pain but whether it'll improve my joint pain or not we shall have to see.

I have had a right fight to get this one. When I was being seen by Great Ormond Street Kids they did them and they were always great but when I was transferred to adults my vascular specialist wanted me to wear something that just wasn't going to do the job.

I wear them partly for the lymph problems and also because I'm prone to clotting and because my leg bleeds due to the blood not getting pumped around properly so it helps keep it moving, the specialist wanted to give me one that didn't do much in the way of putting pressure on my leg and also it didn't go all the way around like a pair of tights which is no good because the malformation is also in my abdomen but he was adamant it was suitable.

So I asked my GP to send me elsewhere
