Cheap or Free chicken carcasses?

I've read a bit on here about people who either get free or very cheap chicken carcasses, where do people get these from?

When I got chicken legs from the local butchers I asked if he had any bones (and previously asked if they would sell chicken carcasses - to which he said they don't really have enough in). Anyway after getting about 4lb of chicken legs and asking for some bones he got me a bag full of bones and 3 chicken carcasses in there (the bag of bones was heavier than the bag of chicken legs that I bought!)

He also gave me the number of the wholesalers where he said I have a better chance of getting it from in future.

I get quite a few kg's worth of free chicken carcasses from my butcher. He just takes what he wants from them - breast, legs and wings - and the rest is to be thrown out, hence why I get them for free.

I wondered this too, as neither of the butchers I approached had any :/

It might be worth doing a deal with them - maybe ask if they'll save you the carcasses if you agree to buy a few £s worth of meat a week :/

I get cheap carcasses from the butchers... they gave me 2kg of chicken and 2.5kg of lamb ribs for £2. He also gives my mum free chicken carcasses when she gets her meat from him, and if he gives her a whole load, then he just charges £1

I just asked nicely at my local butcher and get a bag of chicken carcasses/wings each week. I take them a bit of something at christmas too, last year a tin of celebrations each to say thank you.
