My best pal

My best pal has been in hospital for a few weeks, having an op on his kidneys. They discharged him last week, but he felt ill again rather soon after, so he was taken back in. Now they say he has an aggressive form of cancer, inoperable, and that he has only days left. I have to phone him, but I have no idea what to say to him, and very little time to work it out.

That is so awful for him and for you ((((BIG HUGS)))) coming your way. Its really hard to know what to say to someone in this situation. The only advice I can give is try not to get upset in front of him, hard I know, and just be yourself. When my dad was dying he didn't want sad upset people round him, as it then upset him, so we used to just kid around like we always had. I really feel for you hun

Oh Snorri, what a dilemma
Don't leave it too long, I did this once and regret it to this day.
Just ring and try to act normally. I know he will appreciate it.

Snorri, I'm so sorry

As Alex has posted, just call and have a good chinwag. Working out what to say to him may leave it too late to say anything

I'm so sorry for him, and you, it's not easy, my one bit of advice, say whatevers in your heart, don't regret not saying anything, I had time to say goodbye to my dad, all the unspoken things between us, or what i thought were unspoken, but a lot he didn't know, when he finally passed away, there was/is nothing that i can say, I wished I'd told him that, or he never knew, don't be embarresed to tell your friend anything, big ((((HUGS)))) coming your way.

so sorry Snorri. Tell him you love him.
Tell him you're sorry about whats happening and you'll miss him.
Then have a good old chat, tell him about normal stuff, ask about hospital food and day to day things, but remember to say the important stuff as hard as it is. You'll both be really ga
glad you did. My BIL just wanted people to talk to him....do it today Snorri.
Big hugs. xxxxxxxx

That's rough on you both Snorri. I would call him as quickly as I could, and not dwell on what to say. Once you hear his voice, the words (and possibly the tears) will flow, and you'll both feel better for it. Good luck honey - hope it goes well xox

Oh Dougie, I don't envy you your task one bit.
Do as the other suggest and bite the bullet.
Take care, see you soon.

So sorry to hear the sad news. You'll know what to say when you hear his voice on the end of the phone. Good luck xx
