So's your boy. I hope all goes well with the doctor.
Breed standards are far from silly, without standards there would be no breeds

Because they could have the MDR-1 mutation gene & as Milbemax is one of the drugs that the mutation can cause a fatal reaction to.

It's not just BCs it all herding breeds with one or two other breeds

Is it off topic ?? Vets should not be giving advise about a "breed"of dog if they are not familiar with the types that exist & IMHO the puppy is way too young to be considered to require very invasive surgery to correct a fault/problem that may or may not exist. I only hope that the"specialist"very will not be seeing £ signs when examining the puppy

But you are not a vet nor an orthopaedic surgeon thus you do not possess the skills, knowledge, ability, training or experience of those who ARE.

You have no grounds on which to base your negative opinions on a vet about whom you know nothing.

You mean before they (breed standards ) were written down ......... well they would have had to have a standard to work from to write it down I guess

Chicken and egg situation .

I have seen many working ESS with legs like your pup. I hope the specialist puts your mind at rest. Do you know what the litter-mates look like?

As for the vet who says your pup's ears are too short! Snort, he clearly is not familiar with working Springers. My ESS had ears no longer than your pup and she came from a very long line of working springers. Your pup could be a crossbreed it is true, but he looks all Springer to me.

I had a quick Google for working ESS images and it shows to huge diversity in leg length - you might find it reassuring

No I don't know what his litter mates look like now. My daughter has a springer from the same (so we were told) parents. She is over a year old now and her legs are straight but were never bowed like benjis. They look very similar though apart from that.
