Oh Helena, what a nightmare for you, it really is beginning to look like something is wrong with Zena's tummy. Baruska has a problem tummy, we know that now, but she has almost never been sick and then it was when she was a puppy (almost) her poo is often runny but again we've never seen anything like you've described.

Poor Zena such a lovely dog, could it be inherited I don't suppose the breeder would own up to that even if true

On the feeding fish and rice I've no real knowledge except to say that good well cooked rice is a firm favorite with Baruska, she loves it and her poo is usually good after if that's any help. Give her a big hug from me.

A blood test did show he was anemic though when finally blood was taken on a rare occasion he looked pale at the vets.
Good Luck H I know how worrying it is, especially when you don't know whats wrong. Sometimes a name for it, good or bad relieves you as at least you know what you are dealing with then.
Funny you should say that Bev, as I do keep an eye on them and her tongue, because it seemed to be very red yesterday if anything, and only resorted to a nice pale pink after the vet gave her that jab. All so strange isn't it. I remember that awful night when we rushed her down there panting, with a bright, red tongue, and even though the vet suspected pancreatitis the blood tests ruled that out and she could come up with nothing, although my suspiscions were heat stroke because she collapsed in the bootroom when we got her home, unable to even climb into the bed I had put out there for her, even her eyes were rolling up, all so bladdy strange.

I will be Vicki, I've just got to do it now, and the vet will probably agree with me too. Let's hope these ab's might help this episode though, coz she's perked up a lot now, even presenting me with that ball, which is good!xx

Thanks H, I honestly don't know, I've already asked my breeder previously, and she has no recollection of any of her dogs suffering like this. I'm sticking with that fish then, so thanks for that, and good luck with Baruska in the future, you don't want any of this H!

Oh H, what a fright for you all just now. Poor Zena.

Has she been checked all over for any lumps and bumps?

I think I'd be asking for more exploratory tests, such as the endoscopy, for sure.

Hope she's better soon. xx

The famous"GSD stomach"problems do seem to occur in certain bllodlines, I can honestly saw in the 50 odd years I had GSDs none of them ever had any problems with their disgestions & only if one of them had an infection did they ever have diarrhoea in any form.

No Chris, she hasn't Might take that route in all honestly, along with bloods next. She's on quite a bland diet with that Chappie now, she just gets fish or rabbit meat mixed in which I've cooked, markies, bonio's occasionally, and her fish sticks which she has every day coz she loves them. She's always had these and fish so I doubt it's the fish.

Thanks Nicola, she's had a good going over from the vet in the middle of the night, and she did say, her stomach feels angry

I don't suppose you'd happen to know if it's in her lines would you at all??? Maybe that Foxfold, coz I've heard a terrible story from a lady I've met who lost her Foxfold puppy with some kind of internal problems and it was only weeks old, but that was 3 years ago she told me about it when she met Zena.

If she were mine, I'd go the allergy testing route before the more invasive endoscopy

OMG!!!! so sorry to read Zena is not well again

I think you have got to ask for more tests and try to get to the bottom of all this now, you really cant be doing with any more stress.

This sickness and diarrhoea is just not normal, bless her.

I would just keep her on fish for a couple of days, rice can be a bit dodgy for some sensitive tums, if you wanted to give anything with the fish, I would go with a little cooked potato. How about cooked chicken, thats good for tums too. Maybe a little bio yoghurt would help, just make sure it's the stuff with the live cultures.

Huge hugs to Zena and you too, hope she is soon feeling much better, and your stress levels start to go down
xxxx

Poor little mite Such a worry for you. I agree with Brierley...when Coco had beef, her poo was very runny with quite a lot of blood in it. Since we've eliminated it from her diet, she's been absolutely fine.
Have they tested her kidneys? Definitley worth it if they haven't. I hope you get to the bottom of this. And hopefully it gets sorted and is something easily remedied. Big hugs to you xxxx
