I was thinking sled dogs may be used too hard in the race. I see lots of mushers end the competition without some of the dogs that started. I know they love their dogs dearly and give them great care and excellent food and I know sled dogs love to run. But the race is SO LONG and a lot of healthy dogs drop out from pure exhaustion. In a desperate desire to win, it seems some mushers should be a little more considerate of their dogs.
(In the great race to Nome which began the Iditerod, it was run in RELAYS because the dogs just couldn't cope with the great distance).
