Back to square one

We really thought we had Harvey's dietary issues sorted out so when his skin started to turn deeper pink and back to red we had to admit defeat

Discussed it with the vet today and we are going to try a prescription diet which she is ordering in for us. There are two specific diets one is P/D (I think) the other is Z/D. The latter will only be tried if the first fails

The only good thing about it all is, Harvey is very obliging, he will eat anything

sorry to hear this, just when you had seen such improvement

I am wondering though, since he done so well initially, if his skin changed for the worse after the introduction of a specific food, or protein source

I just don't know & I admit that. There is turkey and veg in the food he's on, the veg being potato, I would need to look it up & see what else is in it & compare it with something else that did agree. Will probably do that later. Waiting for the cooker buzzer to go, have to get up and attend to the dinner then

I heard him grinding his teeth during the week which makes me wonder if he
had pain somewhere. that was really why I mentioned it to the vet today.

aww, what a shame!

I'd maybe be tempted to think about what he was eating when you were home-cooking for him initially though and perhaps go back to that? You could always give him the keepers mix and multi-vit with it long term?

Only you can decide really, its just that he seemed to improve so quickly when you first started that I think I would be tempted to go back to that. poor boy, hope he gets some relief either way!

HI, details on quantities here

http://www.dorwest.com/Catalogue/Die...ts/Keepers-Mix

My dogs get three measures (= 1.5 tsp) a day

Same applies to Easy Green which is parsley, spinach and watercress.

http://www.dorwest.com/Catalogue/Die...y-Green-powder

TBH you might find that Easy Green may be more appropriate with your dog, spinach has a lot of success with dogs with skin problems.

Give them a ring, they are really helpful on the phone.

HTH

Ive rang them twice & each time hung on so long i gave up.

I will take your word for it & will go ahead & order the herbs.

Do you think i could try Katie ( renal) - thinking of her allergies. When you think of it, the Rubenal which has made a radical change in her condition is made from rhubarb
