Evolution of the Dog...name

Some forms stand the test of time. Some names are immutable down through the years. Rico, once named, has remained 'Rico' throughout - unadorned and simple, eternal. Rico.

Other names seem ephemeral. Missy, we called her. Then it was Missy-Moo, then Missy-Moomin, Moomingirl and now, most often, plain Moomin.

Have your dog's names meandered with time?

Hummm....yep

Tassle....Tass...Tassie...cece.....bece....I tend to call her my BC dog now.

Siren.....Sirena.....Sirenee....reene....reeney roony....Loony reene roony....Loony tunes!

Selkie... Selkie-angel, Selkie-bear.

Pharaoh - Phariee, fairy, Fez, Fezzo, Fezzy. Mostly Fez, or puppy boy.

Kismet - Kissy, Kiz, Kizzy, Kitty, Kitty kat. But mostly Kiddles of Kiddy kat.

ILO > widdy/biddy Ilo > Pudding > Chutchie cheeks > Chutcher > Stinky > Tinker> Tink (stop me now before the two dogs morph completely.)

Its interesting that both dogs have UN acronyms, and the first one was actually from Cambodia. Taki's names are most onomatopaeic, whereas Ilo's describe her physical appearance from pup through to when her mane grew and her caudal glands started to smell!

Both dogs respond well to all their names.....

Toro, Toro Diablo, whirly, girlie, pumkin pie,moonmim mama, she answers to anything as long as it sounds soft lol and in a singing voice...

Jack, Jackie, Jacko, Wacky Jackie, Wacko, J D McFartarse (J D as his original owner named him after his favourite tipple, Jack Daniels), his Wagship, pond monster & Mouldy dog because he's merle. He answers immediatley to any of these names

There's probably more, but I can't think of any at the moment

Holly - Holly-Pop, Holly-Flops, flopsy, flip-flop mostly Hols

Bramble - Brams, Bami, Bambi, Bam-Bam, Bam-Ba

Hoya - genrally oi naughty-un (as still a pup and not much of a name to play with)

Woody - Woodstock - Woodster - Woodington - Worty (how a friend's little girl says his name) - Mummy's Baby - ManCub - Baby Bear - Little Bottom - Biscuit (although I've had to stop that now for obvious reasons) - Woodchip - Chap - Chaplin - Fur Face.
