Is it true .........................

that everyone will have to throw their televisions away in a couple of years and get special digital ones? Why can't they just modify the ones we have?

I dont think it will happen that soon, but yes it will all be digital.

You can keep your old tv if you have a digibox. Its the old signal thats going, so unless your tv can pick up digital (digital tv), digibox, cable tv or sky, then you wont get any tv.

Do you mean a freeview box Roxy? Cos we have one of them for the main tv and my son and daughter have one too so I wonder if we won't have to replace our tellys then? It would be great if we can just carry on using our telly with the freeview box cos life would be unbearable if my son and daughter had to live without tv, particularly Laura when Big brother is on

I do thjink its a bit mean, but its there way of modernising the world

Luckily for me my OH is a techy geek, our sky high def arrived yesterday to go along with his high-definition lcd tv

Foxy I believe your in the Granada tv area so your switch off year is 2009

As long as you have a digibox (freeview) then that converts the signal from analogue to digital so you can carry on with your old tvs.
