Cheers. Well I have been having lessons from one of the FCA guys, who also owns a farm , foster son calls him ''Farmer Jack''
Well Jack has taken 17 into his care and 1 cockeral. Bless thier little souls, none of them had any feathers and were covered in bruises and Urine burns. Well after 3 weeks they all have feathers coming and they just LOVE being outdoors, they used to lay anywhere as they are so used to laying standing up and the eggs roll away, so they are abit slap hazzard at first, the Cockeral didn't know how to crow
but he's finding his voice now
I am not having a cockeral (think it may wake the neighbours abit to early) but I felt so sorry for the poor hens that I decided to let Jack show me how to look after them and have my name down for 3. I am going to called them Henrietta,Harriot, and Gabby. They ususally take a few days to venture outside and within a few weeks they should have thier pecking order of who's in charge (I've been told to let them sort this out between themselves, unless one chicken is a real bully) I have found a place nearby that does all the chicken feed etc., and have found a Large animal Vets that will undertake any vaccines they may need. So just have thier run to finish 10ft X 11ft and thier house can sit under the trees at the far side.
