Jan Fennel - Dog Listener

What does everyone think of her work?

I met her at a sort of conference thing, and think she's amazing.

Just wondered what everyone else thought?

Hiya, I've read her book and found her techniques really interesting and made total sense. It's great she is training the dogs without using any force and she has a real understanding about dogs.

A total waste of space uses now debunked dominance theories based on studies of wolves in captive packs as "normal"dog behaviour
Has a degree in human pyschology & applies human pyschology to dogs
Sorry not a fan of her at all

hi there, ive not met her but i have her dvd, the dog listener, i found it very interesting. I got a lot out of it, my older dog wouldnt eat his food he is a rescue dog and would just shake and pick at food, she said to eat a biscuit and let him see you eating, sounds silly but he did start eating without shaking. Ive had him for 8 years and gone through the same routine, but slowly he is eating normally.
I would say yes she knows what she is talking about. lol Pauline x

I agree with much of what Joedee says
JF does occasionally write things which make sense and if it helps some people ok, but she is not someone I would recommend.

Her training technique seems to be "one size fits all" which I just can't agree with.

Watched her on TV once and that was enough for me - found her rather smug and her methods whilst they weren't harsh rather outdated - just my opinion. But if someone decides that's what will work with them then that's their choice.
