A little update on my old lad.

Went to the vet last night and was told that Toby's sample was mainly alkaline and that dog urine is normally more acidic.

They found quite a substantial amount of blood in his urine but no sugar. He was given an antibiotic injection and dropped off this morning for a scan and to have his blood taken. His temperature was up and the vet is reserving his judgement on Toby until all tests completed. Vet said last night that possible bladder infection not cystitus (probably spelt wrong). He told me that in this type of infection it does come on quite slowly and then when it takes hold it really takes hold.

Probably will know more this evening when I go back for the results.

Please keep you fingers crossed my poor old man was not looking himself this morning.

Last Night received results. Toby has a very large stone. Decision was made to operate this morning. Apparently some stones can be dissolved be medication but without knowing the type of stone they cannot say. I am told it is a major op and because of his age there could be problems. I feel somewhat in limbo at the moment.

Decision was to go ahead because if it works then he will be free of pain but will require a different type of diet. So this morning dropped off and will be in touch with vets this afternoon. I am not sure at this moment whether or not he will be allowed home today. My own view is that I would prefer him to stay overnight only because I want peace and quiet for him and with the other dogs he may not get the peace he will need.

I can be honest and say I dont feel to good and very worried. I will not be in work tommorow and therefore will not be able to post. I am proposing to stay off work to look after him until such time as he is on his feet.
