help with virus removal

My step daughter has a newish laptop ready for university but she seems to have managed to pick up a virus.

I've checked her antivurus software and its telling me that 'zlob' is a system infection (i.e. multiple files infected).

I've run the 'file clean' on her security software, but it hasn't found anything to clean.

I've never had any experience of dealing with viruses and am not very IT literate (but I'm the best out the 4 of us here!) - can anyone give me any help to remove it please?

First thing is not to panic, Zlob has been doing the rounds since 2005 and is listed as threat level low. You need to go HERE and download the free removal tool, worked like a charm for me when i had to use it

There are a few online scanners that will check your system for you they will require some software to be instaled for the scan to take place.

Online Scanners

Kaspersky
Noton
Mcafee

She doesn't know for sure, but either of those is a strong possibility

Thank you. She does have a security system but I'll certainly look at those

Thanks Bens mum.

I had to try a few since the virus blocked some and others would detect the virus but then wanted you to pay for the full version before removing it.

But we get there in the end - thanks again everyone for all the help
