If it's Sky then it uses PPPoA and not PPPoE

Use the set up disk that comes with it also the sky router comes by default encrypted the code for that will be on the bottom of your router.

There is no user name or password to input as these are set before it was delivered to you. So if your BB by sky is active then the light to say your connected will be solid and it is connected to the internet so it's just connecting to the router then access to the internet.

Do a scan for available networks if connecting wirelessly it will find the router the ID for your router will be with the paper work that came with it.

hi leo - thanks but the laptop just cant seem to find it - The laptop is using PPPOE so does that mean it wont be able to connect to sky ?

as you can tell I dont really knwo what i am doing - not sure if the laptop is missing a relevant driver as when i go into network connections it has absolutely nothing showing - so it doesnt even show a LAN connnection ?

in device manager it has a ? next to other devices which includes ethernet controller - could this be why its not finding it?

If its not showing a LAN connection, check to see if the network card is enabled.
Go into device drivers, and see if there is any question marks against them, to show if your missing any drivers.

Are you trying to use, the wizard to connect to the b/b service?
If so it won't work. Delete the connection off your system completely.
Connect to the router, via the lan cable, open the internet explorer browser.
Tools, internet options, connections tab, nothing in dial up (top box) down to Lan settings.
Tick AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS AND APPLY IT.
See if it will bring up your home page.
This is connecting to the router, via the lan cable.

It hasn't got the driver for the ethernet.
If you know the card you will be able to download the driver.
If you brought the pc, and a brand name, whats the model. The lappy model and make.
Go the the manufactors site, download the driver.
Then once it is installed, your'll be able to set it up.
