You'll be fine running it off an extension lead,but...

If its the type which is on a plastic spool that you unwind do bear in mind you need to remove all the cable from the spool.What people are often unaware of is when you leave say half of the cable on the spool it starts to act like the heating elements in a hair dryer and can catch fire.

Think twice-stay safe!

It isn't the coiled up one, just a short length of "straight" cable going to a surge protected extension

Ours runs off one...not the coil/wheel type... and is fine, our electrian friend said with us having a trip switch fuse box it was OK

My fridge freezer in the garage has been running off an ordinary extension lead (not one on a reel) for about 4 years and it's been fine.

In addition to all the above advice, just make sure the whole extension lead assembly, i.e. plug, socket and cable is rated appropriately.

I heard a story once where someone was running a washing machine off an extension. The plug and socket wree 13 amp rated but the cable the thing was put together with was 5 amp... It burst into flames.

I do. And two full sized freezers. As long as they`re fused and up to the load they`re fine.
