Worms In The Lungs ? Really Worried

Rocky wasn't himself at all this morning so while I have been at work my mom took him to the vets as I was so worried about him. He was very lethargic & looked ill. My usual vet was off so the other vet at the clinic saw Rocky.

He said he has worms in his lungs ? He listened to his chest after hearing Rockys snorting noises that he makes & said it was very very rattley / mucus etc. He said he didn't think it could be an infection. He has given my Rocky an antibiotic jab & some worm tablets that he has to have over the next 3 days. I've never heard of worms getting into the lungs. I clean his poo up every day & have never seen any worms. I am really worried about my little guy. He also said Rocky didn't need to go back in for a check-up.

Have any of you heard of this ? I feel terrible, he hasn't seemed in any way to be poorly until this morning. He must have been suffering for ages.

Hope Rocky feels better soon.
Maddie had lungworm a couple of years ago, I knew she had eaten a few snails but didn't think they would harm her as such but like Rocky her breathing wasn't right and I knew something was wrong. She had some 'worming' paste (can't remember what its called) to spread over her food. It cleared up pretty quickly
I just have to be extra watchful during 'snail' season that she doesn't get them before I do

I have heard of lung worm, but didn't know it was from snails.
None of mine find them attractive.......lol
So if they rattle etc its a case of getting the right wormer for it.

That's why I alternate between Drontal/Panacur and Milbemax as they all tackle slightly different worms.
