Only from rupturing my own and it was very painful,if you have any metacam at home weigh her and then give her a dose of it as it will help with the pain! Take care and try to keep her off it as much as possible.Hope it helps x

Its all going wrong again for Wicca, if you have been following the thread & i thank you if you have for your support, you will know when the fixator was removed the pin in her foot broke & was left in & wasn't supposed to be a problem, well as she has started to use the the leg more she has developed pain & swelling at the back of her foot she was re x-rayed today & the piece of pin is about 1" straight through the bone sticking into the soft tissues i thought it was atiny bit !! my vet has spoken to the specialist who wants the x-rays sent to him, we are expecting that this will need some surgical removal somehow the worry is the tendons along the back of the foot & or the possibility of fracturing the bone it just goes on & on, my poor dog has had enough so have i its not fair.
Rant over thanks for caring
X K

oh, Kathryn, you must just be so close to dispair (if not past it).

Fingers well and truly crossed for you that luck starts turning Wicca's way and that hopefully 2008 will be her year.

Hi all, well the specialist rang & said the broken bit was causing a problem !! so poor Wicca had yet another anaesthetic & the offending piece has been removed so far without complications -i just hope she will be more comfortable in a few days, she is back on the opiates for pain relief as you know she cannot tolerate any non-steroidals. Had to cancel her 1st hydrotherapy which is a bit of a bummer but stitches out next week so hope we can start then.

Hi Surprise surprise Wicca today is the happiest in herself than she has been for many a month now, think the pin bit was obviously causing her more grief than was realised & i feel so guilty that i didn't push for more to be done hopefully we again can move on, she is placing her foot much better & allowing me to carry out her exercises on her toes without too much fuss.
X K

Aww, that is good news.

Don't blame yourself - you were following the advice of the specialist and the vet - they're the ones who are supposed to know.

the important thing now is that she continues to improve - fingers crossed for you
