13 week old pup sleeps alot

hi there, just wanted some advice as my puppy who is a wiemaraner x springer spaniel has just started going for walks for the past week.
what id like to know is if i am walkin her too much? we have been takin her for 40-60mins twice a day. most of this is on the lead and we did let her off the lead for most of it yesturday so she could get used to the other dogs etc.
But she seems to be sleeping a lot more. like today she has only been up 30 mins and now she back asleep and we havnt even been for a walk yet.
i know she will sleep alot as she is exercising more but before she was going out for walks she would be awake 3-4 hours sometimes before napping again.
is there something wrong with her or is it normal for a puppy who has just started going for walks?

OMG please stop taking this dog out for so much exercise, this is the equivalent of expecting a 2 year old human to do a half marathon.

A puppy should go out for controlled socialisation and habituation opportunities but it does not need huge amounts of exercise.

15 minutes a day is sufficient of offlead running about NOT route marching.

The rest of the time start trying to tire her out with mental exercise.

HTH

You are walking her waaaaay too much I'm afraid. A rough guide is 5 minutes per month of life up until 6 months so your pup should only be getting around 15 minutes a day! It's to protect their joints as they grow. Please cut down her walks

A word of warning you have a cross between two breeds whose world REVOLVES around sniffs, so I would be extremely careful that in the future you will be able to provide NO reward that overcomes sniffing for a living.

Just a thought.

whenever i have seen those two breeds out and obout (and especially springer) their noses can almost be glued to the ground....its as if nothing else is going on in the world, including their handlers shouting 'come'...the ears can seem to switch off

i think the point is work very very hard at your recall training

her recall isnt a problem at all, we worked at it so much in the house and garden that she comes back all the time in the field. the only time she doesnt listen if shes playing with another dog. i dont really stop her from sniffing, when she realises we have walked on she soon comes running anyway.

Meet charlie - a Weimerana x springer spaniel

He is about 20 months old and is a pleasure to work with, but does constantly have his nose to the ground. He requires a huge amount of mental and physical exercise but temperment wise, cant fault him!

Just thought I would put some pics up of what yours could potentialy turn out like!
