man shot by police on london tube

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4706787.stm
I feel chilled that this country has come to this, even though it might be justified in the light of all the terrorist threats

On another news report, they say he 'might' be a suicide bomber.
Is 'might' good enough, to be shot 5 times?

Just read a few things about what has happaned:

'Undercover Police hae shot a man dead at Stockwell Tube. An eye witness said he wasn't carrying enything but that he was wearing a large jacket.'

'Police have shot a suspected suicide bomber at Stockweel Tube this morning, about an hour ago.

An eye witness said he was shot by plain clothes officers 5 times.'

its not like they can arrest him for a chat ......a decision has to be made

A piece from sky news article

'Police have been given orders to shoot to kill if they believe someone is about to detonate a bomb.'

I think they had no choice - the guy was fleeing from them - and if he it appeared he was reaching for a detonator then they had to shoot him even if they were on him, it would just take one push of button.

I do think they do a wonderful job, but I don't agree with killing someone without questioning them.
They could have used a stun gun/shot his legs/arms etc.

Apparently he was a suspected suicide bomber wearing a rucksack and running from plain clothed polic. He jumped for the train, tripped and fell and then they shot him an unconfirmed 3 or 5 times.

These are scary times with guns etc. but I suppose they shoot to kill in these instances - maybe they don't have time to pick out arms and legs? I imagine they were thinking purely of stopping him detonating a bomb.

I guess more will come out during the day.
