I find that with a lot of albums, recently brought Newton Faulkners album and the strongest song was his single (dream catch me) But then sometimes you buy an album on the strength of a song and you never take it out of the cd player

Yeah I agree. I don't mind too much if it's young new bands. I like to support new talent so don't grudge the price of the cd really.
Most of the time though I will check out the whole album before deciding. The last cd I bought on a whim was The Fratellis and I play it constantly
