We raised £6,000 today with the newfoundlands!!

I belong to a water rescue group that does displays at regatta's and harbours etc. The money we raise goes to the childrens hospice local to us.

Today we were doing a sponsered rescue.

Volunteers had to get sponsership to be rescued in the local marina at portishead by one of the trained newfoundlands.

I think we had 50 rescues happen today, the dogs worked really hard and we raised £6,000.

We also had a "guess the weight" of one of our bigger newfs, we were donated a mobile phone for the winner. The weight guess's ranged from 4st - 16st , i think he was actually around the 13st mark.

My son billy did it as well and got £102.00

Long day but well worth it, jess and bianca are zonked out as they have had hundreds of cuddles by passing public which they love.

Kai was enjoying the space

and of course the "me" time without the other big clumsey girls around.

My hubby came home after a few hours so they had some male bonding.

Apart from the money you collected - that`s such a great positive event showing how useful / beneficial dogs are. Great stuff. Excellent antidote to all the negative stuff.
