I live in Germany and I was speaking to a friend who has a Patterdale which he uses for catching rabbits. He has to go walking with a shovel as well. He was telling me once the dog goes to ground they leave their back legs sticking out behing them so it makes it very difficult for them to get out on their own. He then has to step in and dig his dog out. I was fascinated. Looking at the fox on your picture as well, it looks like a much cleaner kill than you would find on fox hunt with horses and hounds. Does your dog complete the kill or do you have to do it?
As for wild boar, there's plenty of them around so that should keep your little dog happy for many years to come.
Congratulations on America by the way.
