How do the police dog handlers challenge you.
Its also nice to know that it is your rejects the police are buying must remember and pass that one on.

If there is a man in a bitesuit they will go to that person. (luckiky) But even then they go for the man inside and try to get to him (i know i decoy myself)
If you think that my dog wont bite a drunk with only his pants on, why don't you come over and try it:smt002 I'll put my mony on my dog.

And for the police challenging. 2 examples.
-A policedog handler said that my dog couldn't search for drugs. True he doesn't have the smell as a target, but when he gets sniff at it than i can send him to do a building search to find the hidden "goods"; He did it without problems

- In june a specialised brigade is going to do 9 trainingdays. The scenario of one of these days was tested with our dogs.

And for our rejects being sold to army and police. Our sport is verry demanding and needs dogs that are excelent to perfect in all fields. If a dog has problems with one excersise he is often sold. does this make hime a bad dog. No he still is among the best dogs in the world, but not good enough for us

I am not trying to annoy you but how do you know your dog is trying to get the man and not just the equipment.
We have had many dogs from europe with ring sport and knpv back grounds who I agree are awesome, but when they do go out into the real world the jump from sleeve or bite suit to bare arms or legs can some times prove difficult even for some of the high drive dogs (not all)..

The drugs challange I have to say while my own Mali can find and indicate drugs all though he has not been trained to do this he cant come anywhere near a properly trained drugs dog, if you are saying he is as good as your police trained drugs dogs then either your dog is really good or the drugs dogs havent been trained very well.

If you've ever worn a suit you know when they go for the suit or for the man. The difference is significant. Getting a ringdog to bite civilian takes 1 training session; that is if you can find someone who is willing to get bitten without protection. You only have to make it clear to them that they may do it.

It is obvious that a trained drugsdog is better than an untrained drugsdog. For one i have to give him the scent, but given a scent he'll find it. That's part of his overall training.

Greetings

Johan

I use a bite suit on most days although it isnt the most realistic piece of equipment in some circumstances, I prefer hidden sleeves.
I agree with having things clear in the dogs mind.
We have handlers who use the bite suit only for biting excercises then they wonder why the dog doesnt stand off and bark at the end of a search, the dog thinks bite suit = bite.
didnt mean to get upity about the drugs thing, Specialist sniffer dogs are my main responsibilty its my thing

Cheers
