I've never owned one, but there was one where I used to keep my horse at livery, he was gorgeous, but stubborn, bull headed, the boss of all the others, if he didn't want to do something no force in heaven or earth could make him do it, but that stubbon steak also saved his life, when a tree and overhead electric cables came crashing down into his stable when we that hurricane in 1987.

Ha ha - thanks guys. I have been told they are erm ... very stubborn.

The little guy we are getting has a great temperament and personality though ... no kicking, biting, rearing etc.

We collect him a week today, so we shall see

I have owned two, a mini and a standard. They are lovely yes stuborn but very cute. And cheap to feed, ours liked to stay out all the time, but you have to watch their weight, i had to bring them in sometimes because they put on weight quite quickly.

my personal experiance with them is they are a tad quick with the feet and teeth,,, stubborn, but thats just the ones I have met, Alana had a welsh x shetland she was lovely, I guess it depends who owns them and how they are handled just as is the case with some of the more dominant dogs, I would say shetlands need firm fair handling from a young age but ponys are renowned for being cleaver and having a way out of things if they decide they dont want to do it, x
