Chew bones are they ok?

Are the chew bones you get from pet stores ok. You know the ones, they are shaped like a bone with a knot either end. What's in them anyone know. When chewed they go into a gooey mess. . . but Ben loves them spends hour throwing them around!

They are made from dried animal skins. Fudge loves them but some owners are not so keen.

My old dog chocked on one a few years ago, he chewed the knotted end off and swallowed it whole, it was really scarey to see, as there was nothing I could do, luckily after what seemed like hours, but was probably only a few seconds, he managed to bring it back up, but I've never fed them since

mine get stuffed kongs, stuffed bones and nylabones. I freeze the stuff kongs and bones, takes them ages. I also find dentasticks and tripe sticks also give them the trotts so unfortunately they can't have them either. I do get the knuckle bones from the butchers every now and again, they keep them busy for hours
