Oh my that must have been a surprise

Jackie are you aware that the buck will still be fertile for several weeks after his snip, so unless she gets neutered as well (which is recommended anyway if you're not intending to breed, as it prevents hormonal problems and uterine cancer) I'd suggest getting him snipped straight away. That way, he will be losing his fertility whilst the mum is still with her kits and you can reintroduce them as soon as the kits leave home, rather than still having to wait a while afterwards, if you see what I mean.

We did that with two Russian hamsters Gems. The assistant at Pets at Home said they were both female and they did get on very well together until one day Laura found 4 baby hamsters in the cage about 4 days old. Well silly me decided to clean their cage out and took some photos cos we had never seen baby hamsters before, anyway we must have upset the male because he went round and attacked 3 of them badly and we just got the 4th one out in time before he got that one. We put the baby with the mother in another cage and he survived and we still have him

Hey Jackie just a few more tips for you that might help you out.
After about 2-3 days you should examine the nest only one person should touch the nest/babies until they are fully out of the nest however cute they may look. The doe should be removed and given tasty tit bits to keep her occupied. Rub your hands in the hutch beding first to remove the human smell which might upset the doe and simply check the 2 babies are ok and that there are no dead babies at the bottom of the nest that need to be removed, and then put the doe back in.

By the end of the first week most of there fur will be through, after 10 days there eyes open and they start to explore there surroundings then at 12 days there ears open and then around 3 weeks of age they start to leave the nest and eat solid food and this is when they can be fully handled and socialised as much as possible (the fun bit )since they are now out of the nest alot and playing they will be mainly eating solid food and not feeding of the does, it is important that they dont eat too many greens (hardly any)as it can lead to them having possibly fatal digestive trouble and dying. So maybe just a few greens every few days is what i did and that was not much. And plenty of hay.

Feeding she needs double what she normally eats so around 2 bowls full a day and plenty of water they sometimes get through 2 bottles a day. Extra greens and carrots are also good but not too many if she is not use to alot as she will get an upset tummy but will help her milk supply, and these should be feed until the babies start to eat solid food.
And the hutch not cleaned out fully for around 3 weeks, she will remove any soiling in the nesting part so it will just be the area where the nest isnt she should mess so just keep that clean. As she wont like her nest being disturbed.
Not to go against what lovestaffsblu said but they can not breed at a few weeks old its from 6 months they can mate. So i would seperate them from mum at 8 weeks old taking mum away from kits, so that they have familiar surroundings still and it isnt as stressful for them. Then keep them for 1 week before sending them to there new homes so they will be 9 weeks when they go to there new homes.

sorry for going on but I thought it might help you
