The joys of Terrier ownership

Pepsi has been so good with near perfect recall.
Until today that is.
Hubby saw that she was making for a badger set and called her off. She came away, circled him and his friend then when she thought she was safe bolted for the hole.
She was in the set for about 5 mins and eventually emerged about 30 yards from where she went in.
She came home covered in Devon red mud and had to be bathed. Hubby was very worried as to whether he would see her again and from now on she will be kept on lead during that part of the walk.
Aaaaah the joys

Very scary. We have quite a few badger setts where I live and my Saluki always has her nose down one or the other - glad she is not small enough to go down, I would be terrified. So glad Pepsi is ok.

I would have had brown trousers if I had been there
Mo (Saluki X only ever showed an interest in squirrels but could never climb the trees

as you say ''the joys'' at least she came out, my late JRT took 4 days to return after disappearing down a hole and when she did she spent the next few years of her life known as 'scar-face' from ear to bottom jaw
My son's JRT, went for 2 days after taking after a fox...........
They become 'terror demons!!!!!' eh! hun

What a crafty girl she is - pretending to come back then zooming off

I'm glad she came out safely though - that can be a real worry.

Am glad she's ok, they're very good at the 'i 'm good n have come back and walking nicely' then taking off again sometimes. Have not encountered any badger sets but prime rolling material is usually involved with such
Am sorry your husband had a scare and hope you are both ok too x

Guess she just couldn't resisit that particular smell

Our two are always sticking their noses down holes in the ground, luckily they are too big to get right into them
