V Weaves

I have a dog that does straight weaves no problem but my trainer insists on using V weaves which my dogs struggles with.

What is the benefit of this if a dog can already weave?

I suppose it might help with speed but not if the dog gets confused----can't you tell the instructor and miss the weaves out?

If the dog has learnt to weave using the v-weaves, putting them back on an angle helps speed the weaves up and you can practice angled entries etc, to give the dog more confidence to pick them up. I taught my Skye to weave using v-weaves, I borrowed them for 3 weeks over Christmas and she learnt to weave in those 3 weeks by doing the weaves about 3 times a day for 5 minutes a time. I still sometimes have them with a bit of an angle in class and my friend has a grade 6 dog that he still sometimes puts the v-weaves at a bit of an angle, he says it speeds his dog up practicing them a few times like this.
