Agility Equipment

How many have their own agility equipment?,
I was thinking of getting some for my garden,
not an A frame seesaw,or dogwalk,just some
jumps and tunnels and weave poles, they would
fit in my garden, when I have'nt got the pigs out on the
grass.

I made some simple jumps and weave poles. They keep the training levels up and give the dogs another thing to do in their daily routine.

Hi,
I have jumps, dog walk, tunnel, Tyre jump and weaves. Ebay is a good place, cheaper than Agility Warehouse. Was well worth the money spent. I had to go rent a garage and buy a trailer too as my garden is too small...lol Must be mad or very keen.....

I just got some bamboo sticks to use as weave poles - well cheap! lol

That was the only piece of equipment he needed extra help on - so went to the locl hardware shop - cost less than a fiver for 12 bamboo sticks.

Hi, can I first ask if you train at a club as I always advise against home training without some grounding from an instructor first. If there is no club near you so formal training is impossible I can suggest some good dvd`s/books to start you off if that helps.
It`s vitally important to adhere to good handling techniques, short sessions, correct equipment spacing and angles, and never going over the correct heights for the dogs size as in how they would measure if competing.

If you do already go to a club please take the above as just precaution which applies to all who want to train at home so please don`t be offended as I you did`nt mention if you do already get instruction

If you need any pointers on dvd`s/books give us a shout Tillymint, there are several of us who can help you there
You also raise another very important point which I forgot to mention, that being age, under 12 months for agility training is a no no except non-impact training, [ planks on the ground, open tunnel, poles on the ground, and no weaving except widely open channel weaves so there is zero bending involved, though I still don`t recommend it as people can get a bit exhubberant and before you know it `just once to see how s/he does` becomes full inline weave training with a baby puppy
Again all these things are best done after instruction on the do`s and don`ts - I have people with young pups come along to training at my club so they can socialise and get used to the sights and sounds of agility and to do a couple of minutes max on the aforementioned no impact side, but at my club they don`t get to go over a single lowest height pole til 12 months minimum and larger breeds/mixes have to wait a bit longer
