Aww, thanks Elaine, he does have soft eyes. I think I was thinking of something more foxy (though friendly fox, not nasty fox)

Oh, he is an absolute stunner!
(not that I'm biased or anything)

My boy won't swim - he'll paddle but won't go right in!

Thanks

I find they need to want something really badly to take the plunge from paddling to swimming. Once they've done it a couple of times, they tend to gain confidence and then there's often no stopping them

With Hoki its just stones hitting the water - she got so excited that she just dived after it and didn't realise she was out of her depth....once she'd done it once, she was fine.

Stumpy will still only swim when conditions are right - she's not as confident in the water, particularly when turning (no tail to act as a rudder!)

Tip just wanted to chase Hoki so badly that he was in out of his depth before he realised He's a useless swimmer as he doesn't lie flat in the water, but he manages to keep his head above the water, which is the main thing

Ben didn't like water much when we first got him. We bought a small paddling pool to get him used to it, then went on the a bigger one as he wrecked the small one jumping over the rim.
He loves the water now, but will not go out of his depth

Aah, here is the thread I was looking for - congrats on the new addition. Hope he works out for you - if possible I think he is even cuter than Stumpy!

What's his story?

Thanks Skilaki

Don't know if you saw the post about 3 weeks ago from Megan57? Her friend lives next to a farmer in Northumberland. The farmer had been trying for quite awhile to find a new home for Tip as he wasn't making the grade as a working dog. Although the farmer really didn't want to, it was starting to look like he might have to have him pts as even offered free to good home, no-one wanted him.

So with Megan57's help (and that of her friend), I went and picked Tip up. He's had a steep learning curve - never been in a house before (in fact I'm guessing had been positively discouraged from stepping into the house), but he's taken everything in his stride.

I kept fairly quiet at first to see how things were going - it was a possibility that we would just act as a foster home if didn't work out with our existing two.

As it is, he's getting on pretty well (check out the video of Tip and Stumpy playing - Stumpy will shock you!), except for a growing problem with Tip being fixated on Hoki, much to her displeasure.

He really is such a sweetie though, so eager to please

Can't believe I missed this! Keep missing things!

Anyway, so pleased for Tip, Fiona. Hope it all works out for you all. Well done on taking him in!
