Chloe (mum) on the front seat and Meg and Riley (babies) on the back seat! All my dogs have been in the car since they were very young so they love it. I used to keep Chloe in the boot in the car with one of those guards up to stop her jumping into the backseat. I had a crash though, where someone ran into me. He totally smashed the boot of my car up and if Chloe had been in there she'd have been killed! Has put me off putting any of my dogs in the boot now!!

Hi Lottie Amy wears a harness with a little ring on the shoulders, a strap attached to the seat belt clips on to the ring. The harness is adjustable and allows the dog to stand or lay down Some people use a crate in the car if they are crate training, the only problem is you would need a big one for a full grown Dally. You could use a small cardboard box to begin with held in place by the seatbelt

Does anyone take good saftey procautions and if so what are they??...

My two are in the back of the car (hatch back) with seats down so they have space and with a gaurd to separate front from back...

But I have always wondered is this enough??...What if we had an accident would the dogs fly past this gaurd?? etc...

I have heard of crates that are especially for the car and are impact resistant but have only seen them made for estate cars which we don't have. I was wondering what the absolute best and safest way is for dogs to travel.

What are the harnesses like?...Do they allow the dog to lay down when it wants etc and would they stop the dog from being thrown forward???

Just wondering if I am doing enough safety wise for the dogs when travelling. Or if I am doing basically all you can?
