Are dogs ...

your main interest and hobby?

If not, what is?

I am sure plenty of my non-dog friends and family think I am a bit bonkers in that just about everything I do (other than with my son and immediate family) revolves around my dogs

Not a hobby, my main hobby is art work and crafts, the dogs I are more my companions really, but I would rather have animals than people most of the time.
I think with animals they except you for warts and all and their love is unconditional where as some people can only want you for whats in it for them. My dogs play a huge part in my life, my well being and my sanity

I think they have slowly become a part of something I need for a hobby, now I have something to concentrate on (just getting going is a bit limited, no transport of my own, money and time)
I do like obedience - but I think Louie is the wrong dog for it.. he's brilliant but it's not his strong suit, I now like gundog training, but again - Louie is perfect - I didn't have a plan. Future dogs will have a set goal in mind, I prefer to see dogs do what they were born to do.. but I like them as pets too

I used to enjoy sailing, in fact the Olympic Gold Medalist Paul Goodison's Dad taught me to sail in exchange I walked his Springer when he was out on the lake without me Makes me think if I'd had stuck with it I could be an Olympian However an incident put me off getting back in a boat that is that close to the water, plus I nearly crashed the speed/safety boat

I did horse riding for a bit but mainly as a way to clear my head. And I never felt right because there was never a dog there to share it..

Photography is an interest, but I mainly photograph dogs..

Hmm dogs seem like a big part of all these hobbies..

Not really. Loki is a huge part of my family (he makes sure of it ) and we have our lovely walks and games and things but I don't do anything hobby-wise with him.

No, they're probably not my main interest or hobby, but they're my main love I don't know what life would be like without them!

My main interest is my job.... how sad (and i'm finding maternity leave hard........ ). With my job (Sign Language Interpreter) comes lots of nice people, communication, languages, dilemmas and socialising..oh and money

When I had horses, they were my life. Dogs somehow aren't. Maybe because I used to compete them, and also they didn't live with me 24/7 so i used to spend more time looking after them?

Not really a hobby but I would say my dog is one of the main focuses of my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way

They are a big part of my life but over the years, my life has changed, so I would say not my main focus. They are still very much a big part of my life but I have different priorities now.

I don't spend every waking hour with them and all my activities don't revovle around them. It has been known to go for a walk without them lol

I think I am just a very different person to what I was 10 years ago when we used to go for those massive walks whenever we had spare time. Lol

Yes, I've based my life, work, hobbies and even friends around dogs. All my closest friends except one I met through dogs, the other through my kids. I show the dogs which takes up a lot of time and effort, and I've met some wonderful people through showing. Walking them every day is a great stress buster too. I'm more bothered about their walks than they are!

Not a hobby. They are a big part of everyday life, every day I'm not at work or working a late turn, starts with a 2 hour walk with them. Then my hobby "Bert" fits in afterwards. They come with me to attend to Bert and then come home and crash in front of the fire by my feet. They spend far too much time with me to be considered a hobby.

Now Bert who I also love to death could perhaps be described as a hobby:

In the same way as a child is a huge part of one's life, so have my dogs always been - but no, they are not a hobby.

I have had various hobbies over the years, including riding - but these days I am a little more sedentary!!! Family history research, painting and reading are probably top of the list.
