getting a bit nervous - found a lump on dog (lipoma / fatty tumour)

I've found a lump on Gelly's side. It feels the size of a gobstopper and is softish...it moves a bit if you know what I mean.It is right where the end of her ribcage is at her waist.
Anyway, I've got her booked into the vets at 9:50 in the morning, but the closer it gets the more worried I am!!

Hi Gellygoo

I was always told that if the lump moves around-it isnt anything to worry about, but should always consult a vet.

But,if its solid-this could indicate a problem.

Like Steve says.......if you can move it around and it is quite soft then you should`nt have to much to worry about..........but seeing the vet is the best thing, at least you will know what it is........good luck for the morning

How old is she?
I have a 10 yr old Setter and she has about 4 lumps that sound the same. The vet says they are nothing to worry about, just old lady lumps!
They apparently are just fatty lumps that older dogs get!
Hope it is nothing to worry about with Gelly!

Thanks everyone, you've eased my mind quite a bit.

Miss Potter - she is 5 1/2 , is this classed as getting on a bit?

I hope it goes ok for you

I just wanted to say that Brandie is only 4 or 5 years old and she has a couple of fatty lumps too so it is possible in a 5year old dog.
