Lump, possible tumour.

Soso has a lump that has come back 3 times now. Its about a cm across, and must be sore or irritating because she keeps chewing at it. The first 2 times the vet said its probably an infection, and dispensed antibiotics, and sure enough the lump went down, though not quite away.

This time though (3 times is 'enemy action' I think is the quote), she says there is likely an underlying cause, and she's thinking mammary tumour, with a secondary infection occasionally causing the inflammation.

I'm scared. Soso is 12, nearly 13. She is already on meds for breathing and has a slight heart murmur. There is a family history of bad anaesthetic reactions. To top it all, she hates the vets and works herself into a panting shivering mess every time. This is her...

She is going in on Monday for a chest X-ray, so please send some good thoughts and wishes her way.

Aw so sorry to hear that. Perhaps it isn't as bad as the vet thinks and I hope you get good news.

Will be thinking of her and you on Monday.

Take care and healing hugs to her.

Sorry to hear about Soso; I hope all goes well on Monday.
My old doggy had to have an op for a small tumour when she was 13 too, and she got spayed at the same time so quite a big op overall. She had a second op 3 months later as the little tumour came back. Both times she was good with the anaesthetic and came out of it like a new dog.
I, like you, was scared for her at her age, but she had to go through it and thankfully came out fighting fit. All fingers crossed here for both of you if she needs an op.
