Jake and Paddywoo (Irish Setter)

This poor Irish Setter, Paddy, is a homeless wee boy he is only 18 months old, and after a friend said she would look after him for the day, his owner never came back for him he hasn't contacted her to ask how he is, and this morning she went out to take the dogs for a walk and found Paddy's crate lying in the front garden. She can't keep Paddy long term, and had been reluctant to find a home for him until she knew for sure the owner didn't want him back (he did say he wanted to rehome him, but she wasn't sure if he would change his mind)... now, it is pretty clear that he doesn't want Paddy back.

I don't want to get into all the details of why he is being rehomed... My friend is struggling a bit with him, so i have been helping walk him and bringing him to mine during the day so she can do things she needs to and gets a wee rest. He is hard work!

I am absolutely in love with this boy though, I wish i could keep him I will cry when he finds his forever home... it will break my heart, he deserves his forever home... but my god it will be hard... he is already attached to me, and follows me everywhere... Not sure what the future holds for this boy yet, as it has all happened so fast... it's been a bit of a whirlwind. Anyway, this is Paddy!

Jake and Paddy were both more than happy to be out in the rain

They are getting on really well, but Jake is clearly the boss!

In the park...

Jake being a right greedy so and so, no one else is allowed a ball

I love the way he runs

I love Jake's face in this pic

Paddy doing what Paddy does best... barking!

I love this pic

We will certainly make sure this boy lands on his feet!

Unfortunately, I live with my parents and my mum says no i haven't given up totally yet though, and i am trying to talk my OH into taking him , but there is also the matter of his parents... although, we took Paddy round to his today and his mum totally fell for him too...

Good grief, isn't it just despicable the way some people treat their animals? I despair sometimes, I really do.

Good on you and your friend for giving this beautiful dog a second chance.

I hope he finds the home he deserves very soon

Please, please don't forget about me, if his owner definately isn't coming back for him I'm pretty sure I can either find his breeder or help you to find him a permanent loving home xx

You know me too well

As I said to Lauren previously, had we already moved to the country and had some land there would be no question, if he was available he would already be on his way to ours, but I just can't do it at the moment

He looks to be a beautiful boy, he really deserves a life rather than being shut in a cage as he had been.

Fingers crossed Lauren is working hard at either keeping him or having him live with someone close by, failing that I am more than happy to help.

He is such a gorgeous boy, I don't know how the owner could just leave him... although, locked in a crate all day and his furthest walk being across the road to sit in the pub, he deserves to be out of there... He is also skinny, it might just be due to his age, but if you feel him you can feel every bone... he really shouldn't be that skinny...

lol, he is a great boy! A bit under socialised and is very demanding, but i think thats mainly due to not having the right attention and time spent on him though. In the right home though, he will make a fantastic dog!

Thanks

I definitely don't think his owner is coming back now... especially after the crate being dropped off. My OHs mum actually knows the owner but doesn't know his surname, so i have asked her to find out she knows people who should know his surname, so if i manage to get it then i can pass it on to you if it's still ok. I also asked about the chip, and she doesn't know but is taking him to the vet next week just to get a check up so will get him scanned just in case.

I have totally fallen for him... i think some dogs just really get to you, and he has... I like most dogs, but there are those few you just can't forget about. Last night after taking him back, i missed him sooooo much!! I have another friend who met him today, and she is going to ask her housemate about keeping him... i walk her dog when she is at work, so she said that he can be part mine too
