Inter digit cyst, I've been back at the vets

well ive been back to vets today as phoebe started to limp last night so i had a look at her feet and found a huge lump coming out the side of one of her pads. its a cyst. vet says its been there weeks and tried to guilt me, but ive had no reason to look at her foot, first she hates having her feet touched, shes not been licking them, shes shown no sign of discomfort what so ever untill she suddenly started to limp. We have had these before in the webbing of her toes, after coming back 3 times vets removed the whole webbing.
Im really hoping this isnt whats going to happen again as this is her actual pad - can they even remove bits of that??

well we have 3 weeks of ab's, but we were on them anyway because of the weird black spots.

is there anything i can do to stop it coming back? as i really dont want another surgery especially not on her feet as it takes so long to heal we had real trouble last time and im also really worried about how many times shes been under GA. its around 7 now and shes only 5!!

You could see a holistic/homeopathic vet?

Look up BAHVS to see if there is one in your area.

You could also ask for a referral to a skin specialist?

In cases of this sort it is usually because the AB the dog is on is not the correct one or not been given long enough.

With the other patches on her skin I would be very tempted to ask for a referral to a specialist as this sounds as though it may be some sort of auto immune condition.

it is a skin specialist, he says hes going to have more of an investigation once shes fininshed abs as she was not happy with him poking it and kept mouthing him to let him know she was unhappy and pulling her paw away. so hes going to look better at her foot and black spots once shes not so sore.

just really want to avoid surgery, but last time soon as we finished abs they would be back after 3rd time vets said surgery was the only way. i just really dont want this to happen. Better note bald patch from surgery in december is finally showing signs of growing back

20 years ago my family had a Cavalier called Charlie. He'd get cysts every couple of months in between or on his paw pads. Our vet at the time said the cause could be irritation from grass or something else. The cysts used to get really large, hot, hard and swollen and slightly yellow.

We were advised to keep bathing his paws in luke-warm saline every time he came in from outside. This cut the frequency of occurrence down, but never got rid of them entirely.

There came a point when he had 4 on one front paw and 2 on the other, poor little sod was miserable (and made sure we knew it). That was when the vet showed us how to open them with a knife/scalpel and clean them out. We got very used to doing this (a bit like a teenager with acne squeezing the spots). Its a yucky job, but it did mean Charlie never got to where they were really painful.

I don't know if these are the same type of cysts, or if your vet would be willing to show you how to evacuate them, but its probably worth trying the saline wash anyway.
