Help for a staffie in need

Hello peeps

An old school friend has got in touch. She has got a six month old staff who needs spaying urgently. Apparently the dog has both male and female genitals. Her vet has said that they are not sure what they will find when they open the dog up. He has never seen this before.

Anyhoos...the problem...all this extra surgery is going to cost, and they cannot afford. Insurance will not cover, PDSA etc will not help as they are not on benefits. Going to suggest asking for installments, but does anyone know of anywhere else they can approach for help?

The RSPCA should be able to provide a list of vets in your friend's area where the vets will take installements.

Fabulous thankyou. She has a penis coming through her vulva that's how it was picked up. She has had it peeled back to see and it is a full penis. So we can't find out until being spayed

Has the vet spoken to her insurance?

I have heard of limited cases of this, and it tends to be covered by insurance in the end, as it is a necessary surgery.

Most often, they cover it as exploratory surgery, although your friend may have to pay the standard spaying costs as this isn't usually covered.

Yes, she was spayed by the vet ( at a cost of £250! ) I have spoken to friend, so dont know the full details of what was/wasnt there
