Boxer pup and jabs

Hi, i'm new to here and puppies lol

i've got a 8.5 weeks boxer male puppy, i've had conflicting reports about him and his jabs.

he had his first jabs at 6 weeks(which the breeder had done) and his second set at 8 weeks.(tues just gone)

I'm wanting to take my puppy to a family bbq tommorrow at my brothers house. he has a husky pup who's vacanated, wormed and fleed up to date.

will they be ok to socialise together or should i keep them apart.

thanks rick

Take him, it will be great socialisation for him, not just with another dog but with people and noise! Get lots of people to make a fuss of him and give him treats (not chicken bones!!). If you're going to be there for a few hours and you have a crate it would be a good idea to take it with you to give him a break during the day as he'll get tired and probably a bit hyper with all the excitement!

Do you have any photos you can post? Boxer pups are so cute (not as cute as Weims though. )

It varies, depending on when the puppy jabs were done. Your pup had an early one. I think you're supposed to leave it a week after the second jab, but by that time they are usually driving you mad. It's important that you start socialisation as soon as possible. Is he booked into a puppy socialisation class?

yeah i thought it was early i thought it was 8 weeks and 10. but thought why would the vets do it if it wasnt safe? i thought it was a week for the jabs to kick in but the vet said straight away and that it was fine to get his second jbas now but the nurse rang back and said no lol the vets wouldnt commit me a definate yes or no (as obviously they dont want to claim responsibility lol)

EnR - yeah ive got pic's, do they need hosting else where then linking on here or does this site host them for you?

I intend to take him to classes yeah i've been told that they cant go till they 3 months old. ive been trying to get hold of some 1 who does them locally where my step auntie goes to with her alsation pup but she's not answering her phone lol i also intend to take him to a local puppy party which the vets reccomened.

I think it depends what brand of vaccination is used, but I'm sure someone can confirm that.

Did your breeder not give you any information about jabs, feeding, training etc.? A decent breeder would have sent their pups to new homes with a puppy pack and 6 weeks free insurance.

When you go to a training class, make sure they use positive training methods, no punishment and don't let the puppies free play as this could result in less confident puppies being bullied by the more boisterous ones.

You need to host your pictures elsewhere like Flickr and link to them in your post using the image button.
