Jeanette in your shoes I would have happily kissed it goodbye but on a gut feeling I was struggling with the idea of it tbh and when I voiced my opinion on it was airily told it serves no purpose .

But a cervix - the neck of the uterus, does not serve any purpose - if your uterus is no longer needed for child-bearing.

Got to agree with Jeanette - I lost mine in 1994 (I was 40) and it was the best thing I ever did.

Taken straight from the hysterectomy information leaflet. I'll hang on to mine then if at all possible as it's given me years of pleasure that I'm not willing to give up for a gut feeling. It's not just that either, I won't undergo major surgery so they can have the opportunity to examine my uterus in the lab and then tell me it was fine.
