Her videos are LOADED with jump cuts and you rarely are able to see her interacting with the actual dog to solve aggression problems. This is a prime example of what I mean...

YES this dog seems aggressive, but you don't see her interacting with the dog during the stages, it automatically shows her sitting in their living room with the dog calmed down a lot. How did this happen?? Etc.

Puts me off a lot. Just seems like a dog under some type of command or something and then released for her actual sit down visit. You also see the dog unmuzzled lunging at a person, but clearly that person isn't her. Again, not her truly interacting with the dog.

Perhaps I have just watched the wrong videos?
Yes I think so. The video in your post is a clip. It's not the whole sequence of the actual episode. It's a 'tipps' video that explains certain things you can do for certain problems. I've seen the actual episode of Jed which is much longer.

Secondly, it's important to realise that real dogtrainers train people more than dogs. So their interaction with dogs should actually be minimal, as it's the owners who have to be able to make the changes.

Thanks Florence. Again, I don't watch these often... so I perhaps am a bit misguided.

No ... I think what you said was fair enough, it's just that for me personally his methods DO work - but as you rightly point out, I am intelligent and experienced enough to sort the wheat from the chaff. His basic philosophy of calm, assertive energy and his mantra of exercise, exercise, exercise is what is best about him. His "claiming of space" is great, his GENTLE knee nudge is great (not the socking great kicks he has at times administered), his consistent use of a particular sound "ah ah" or "ay ay". His hand to block - this especially works with my boy Ben, who HATES being groomed. But he has to be brushed every single night really as he has a heavy double coat - very fine long hair on top, with the wolf-type cottonwool undercoat and very, very, very sensitive skin. Our groomer says she has never known such a sensitive dog. In the 3 years we have had him since rescuing him as a savage, undisciplined git, we can now groom him without losing an appendage! I can read his body language now and know exactly when he is about to turn, and I can anticipate and stop this right in its tracks by a sharp "ah ah Ben, be nice!" and my hand held up with fingers splayed near enough to his face for him to be able to get me, but not so close as to be very threatening. He will then lay his head back down again and I can very gently continue with the grooming.

Gnasher. I know this may be off topic, but I associate CM with that "TSST" sound rather than anything else. It belongs to him and him alone.

What's funny is that when I made this noise around my dog when he was eating, just to see how he would react... he instantly stopped eating and came over to me.

The sound itself got my dogs attention immediately. I was rather surprised. CM does this to calm dogs or get them to cut something out, along with usually some sort of physical reprimand. The sound is useful to me (not the physical reprimands).

Kinda scary that you have a 45 kg dog that will turn his teeth toward you, though. Well done to you, it's clear you must have a lot of patience and love for that boy... I'm not sure I'd ever be able to have a dog that would bite me for any reason.

Have to comment on this quickly... Bull breeds typically have a 'switch' where, when they feel someone is an intruder they will be very defensive - usually though, once they know the person isn't a threat, and has been accepted by the owners as friendly they are fine

Problems can arise if dogs don't go through much of this sort of socialising and positive reinforcing.

Next up, is Victoria Stilwell. What would you say to her?
I would say well done and thank you
Your no nonsense approach which also demonstrates an understanding of canine behaviour comes as a much needed counter balance to an American TV entertainer with a large following who masquerades as a dog trainer.

CM isn't from America. He is Mexican/American and he lived in Mexico for nearly half of his life. He immigrated here from Mexico illegally and only became a citizen in 2009.

So please... he's not American. He doesn't look American, his accent isn't American, he wasn't born in America... so he's not American. He has a citizenship here, but that is it.

Ummm What the heck constitutes looking American???? America is a country founded on Immigration - no one "looks" American.

If he has citizenship then he most certainly is American!!!!! I am a dual citizen of both England and America, and I consider myself an American!!

Well he has american citizenship and he mainly 'operates' in the US. His programs are mainly aired in the US.
I would consider him very American.
After all, being american simply says you're from the continent of the Americas, and that includes all countries up and down the continent.
Being a citizen of the United States of America means you're US american.
Since he has that citizenship, he's US american.
There are millions of US americans who don't have an american accent. And there are millions of different ways americans can look like. So please, don't get hung up on such a tiny technicality.
Just because he is american doesn't make people think less of americans in general or of you.
Plus, it really doesn't matter where he's from.
Rant over.

He is a citizen of America so that makes him American does it not.....what does a real American look like then

I would guess the only true American is the Native American, everyone else is the product of immigration, just like CM .
