Fermented foods / probiotics for dogs

Anyone make their own pickles or fermented foods? And I guess more importantly, does your dog get any? How do they do on it? What other probiotics does your dog get?

I currently have two jars of Sauerkraut on the go - 1st one should be ready the first week of November

I wonder if it will be tho - it certainly went through a 'smelly' phase

We do make pickles but never give them to the dogs they caused tummy ache and very bad wind, felt quite guilty they were not too good at all on them. Luckily we love them though so they got used, similar thing happened when I made pickled eggs - not good for dogs at all.

Are they vinegar based Julie?

The sauerkraut I am making is just cabbage and water (along with some juniper berries) and when done, the probiotic count is meant to be in the trillions.

Tho, I'm not sure whether dogs would actually like the taste - Rocky was never keen on anything sour (probably the only type of food he didn't like! )
