Yet another stupid question DVD-RW disc DVD+RW machine

OK,

HAving tried various things and nearly reverting to violence towards PC does the fact my DVD rewriter says DVD+RW on the front and the fact I am using discs that say DVD-RW make any difference would this prevent a recording happening??

Thanks

googled your model myself. its DVD+RW and DVD-RW.
so it should take both formats.
what speed are your discs and what speed are you trying to cope at?

My discs are4X 4.7GB and I have no idea what speed I am trying to copy at?? Now would I know????

Basically I have taken both my CDRW drive out and my dvd RW drive out and checked the jumper switches DVDRW set to master CDRW set to slave

When I go to my computer the d:\ drive shows a small dvd-RAM drive (D icon but as soon as I put any dvd RW disc in the drawer the icon stays the same ie. a small picture of a disc and the words DVD RW under it, but the writing after it says CD Drive (D?? WTF???

If I put a pre recorded dvd in the drawer it plays fine???

ALL i want to do is put a flipping slideshow with music onto DVD how can it be so difficult??

I have checked in device manager and it says the drive is fully functioning (clearly not) I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers (that did nothing) The only disc that came with the product was nero.

I am using windows XP pro with 14.8GB free

And when I right click on properties on the dvd icon then select recording, the box is ticked to say enable recording on this device.

PLEASE PLEASE help????

The reason why it says RAM drive because it is capable of recording it.

My DVD RW chanhes name as well i got a disk in mine at the mo and my drive is called My DVD thats the name of the disk. If you take out the disk and refresh your system (press F5) it should display the correct name for you again

Ok tried that and it still says DVD ram with the icon followed by CD(D)

BUT

Nero opened up all by itself and gave me a few options its Nero Smart start In Favourites it gives me option to create photoslide show (VCD) or make movie or make your own dvd - video or copy dvd or copy cd.

An improvement on before will try slideshow thing and see what happens!!
