PLease Help - Program not responding error CONDSTANTLY

Wonder if any computer minded peoplke can offer me any advice?

I frequently (like 15 - 20 times in onme sitting at the pc) get the program not responding error message and everything freezes, and I have to end task (several times) and go back to my desktop.

I am using IE 6 (I think) as I used to use firefox but it stopped letting me into loads of sites I use like my bank and telewest and ask jeeves!! I have windows xp pro and have downloaded freds vista link from today.

I recently defragged my PC (for the 1st time ever - II didnt even know such a thing existed!"!) and I ran tune up utilities 2007 which found something scary lkike 2034 errors which it fixed!!! But this really annoys me.

It tends to happen more if I try to open a new window eg if I click on a link, but sometimes it just happens because it bl**dy feels like it!!

Anyone any ideas???

Before I lose the plot and hit the machine off the wall

Patience not my strong point

use netscape 7.2 it's far better then IE, but as you say, a lot of sites don'nt like browsers other than IE, so AVOID them !!

Have you done a registry clean up and cleaned out all your old cookies up?

Also try disc clean up.

I forgot to ask you last time did you run you adware and Spyware programs and do you have a firewall running such as Zone Alarm?

If you have done those then you will have to go into your bios and find out what is causing the problem.

If you don't know how to do that then download a problem call Registry Smart and it will do it for you.

http://www.registrysmart.com/download2.php

Let me know what it finds.
