Importing

Can someone help me? i wanna know how i can import a dog from the US? ie what docments would be needed(pet passport,breeders papers, proof off jabs etc) and also what would happen once the dog gets here and is there away to aviod haveing it with them for 6months? does anyone know a website where i can get this info from? Thanx in advance

i hate to you this but die to america being a country that has rabies in animals ANY animal coming from the US HAS to be qaurantined (sp?) for a minimum of 6 months. thats why i had to leave my 4 pets in america, i just couldnt face the idea of them being caged and alone for 6 whole months without me

I'm pretty sure you can transport your dogs now from America to the UK and back without having them quarantined as long as they are PetPassported. I remember reading about it in a mag only a few months ago.

If you go to the Defra website you should be able to find some links there, on top of the tests for Pet Passport scheme the dog would be tested for Leptospirosis as well which is taken as a stool sample 10 days before the dog is due to leave.

It would cost a fair bit though to do all this.
