Histiocytoma?

My 2 yr old Boxer/Pit mix suddenly over night grew a pink bump on his face; it has been there for 4 weeks. The pink bump seems to be on the skin and has hair growing on it. Everyone keeps telling me it is nothing....I'm concerned it is a Mast Cell Tumor. One friend told me it is a Histiocytoma. I'm going to the vet next week but I am stressing big time and would like some opinions.

I attached a picture of the bump.

Its definitely worth getting it aspirated. Mast cell tumours vary and can look like histiocytomas.

My boxer had a MCT which looked similar, just like the small eraser on a pencil tip. It was removed and she never had another one.

Fingers crossed its nothing to worry about.

Avatar dog Eddie had a histiocytoma on an outer toe, approx. 5 years ago. It was pink and fleshy, but was an irregular shape. The surface would break open and almost heal, but then break open again. The vet said that they usually go away on their own, but as there was not very much skin to play with if it had grown any larger, I opted for removal.
Try not to worry, so many of these lumps turn out to be harmless ones. Best wishes.

Thank you! I just wish I could have seen the vet before Christmas. It is making me crazy. My fiance tells me I'm a worry wart. I'm so upset by this stupid bump.

Hello Juliet Histiocytoma usually appear on younger dogs, they are a bit like a blackberry sort of knobby on the surface.
They often go spontaneously in about three months.

You are doing the right thing getting the lump checked out by the vet.
I know it is upsetting when there is anything wrong with our dogs but it is best to try not to worry or they pick up on this and can get upset if we do.

Hope all goes well at the vets...
