Puppy food

Just brought a puppy, first dog since I was a boy, he's a Collie stafford bull cross. Hello everyone
Any good advice on what to feed him for the best, he's healthy and bouncy, but he has very smelly wind.
Cheers Bob

Just had my new boy, Thorgeir, at the vet today, first time, for his first jab and a once-over.

She said to give him puppy food for the first few weeks, with puppy kibble. We had been giving him raw beef mince with puppy kibble.

He's a pure-bred (but non-pedigreed) farm-born Border Collie, and about 11 weeks old. He is also healthy and bouncy, and is an Olympic-standard farter.

Any good quality puppy food would be fine. It all depends what feeding route you will be taking e.g. raw, wet, dry etc. Whatever suits your pup is the one to stick with, so it's a bit trial and error really. Good luck and........

I found certain brands of dry dog food are worse than others for getting dogs windy! We feed Marius on Arden Grange and his bottom-burps have definitely decreased lol

Hi Bob and welcome to Dogsey. I've also got a new pup, who is fed on Hills Giant Breed with a small bit of raw minced tripe, it's very expensive, but this is what the breeder fed and I'm sticking with it. I think these very early weeks are soooo important in putting in all the right nutrition, so the very best you can get if you can afford to do that. She gives me perfect poo's on a regular basis, no wind, no smell, and I put that all down to this food! I wouldn't feed tripe if you don't want wind though, coz my vet told me the other week that tripe can cause horrendous wind in some dogs, but mine is obviously fine on it. All the best with your new puppy, aren't they great!
