Ebay - Removing an item from the Auction

Hi all, OH has an item on Ebay (not advertised elsewhere) so has not put the line "Reserve the right to remove.......blah blah blah".
Someone has asked him how much he would accept to remove it from the auction, or what the reserve is - what is the best response?

Say no to removing it from auction.
If you don't sell it through eBay, you have no protection/come back if something goes wrong.

Ask what they are prepared to pay, and if you think it's a good offer, then if there is no bids, add a buy-it-now.
If it has a reserve, I dont see the harm in telling them.

I had an auction listed, and someone asked me to sell out of eBay, and how much did I want. I only wanted £30, so told them I would set up a buy it now if they wanted......dont think my e-mail got through, but it sold for over £50 in the end!

Thanks guys, there are already 3 bids on it, and there's 8 days still to go - I'll pass on the info. Can he add a 'buy it now' price now that bidding has started?

I dont think so, not now it has bids on.
Just go to edit the auction, and if you can, there will be an option I think!

you cant edit prices or owt after you have received bids. you could only take it off auction as being faulty etc, but then he would have to sell it directly not through e bay. or relist it at a later date

That's great, thanks both. I think he's as wise just letting it run, it's not that far off the reserve so it'll sell anyway I'd have thought

you can cancel the auction, but you would have to cancel the bids first, which u can do.
If the guy is willing to pay a good amount then i'd sell it to him. Although i wouldnt do it through ebay personally cos of the charges they charge. To be honest if hes sending you cash, then you cant lose anyway. Its his own risk. If he sends a cheque tho make sure the cheque clears first.

But personally id take the higher price if u dont think the auction will get above it.
