Pet Insurance 2009 Rates

Hey All, thought it would be a good idea if we do a thread once a year where we post what we're paying for our pet insurance compared with last year.

Maybe in this format:

Last years premium:
This years premium:
Number of dogs insured:
Name of insurance company:
Number of claims made in last 3 years:
Dogs age:
Dogs breed:

Last years premium: £17.64 a month
This years premium: £17.94
Number of dogs insured: 2
Name of insurance company: Tesco
Number of claims made in last 3 years: 0
Dogs ages: 4 and 6
Dogs breed: Shiba Inu

Tesco DID try to raise it almost 50%, but I went on their website as a "new" customer and got a much lower quote. When I confronted them with it, they reduced the premium so it only went up a few pence.

It always pays to do that with all insurance

Last years premium: About £16.00 each
Last years premium: Exactly the same. It has never increased
Number of dogs insured: 5
Name of insurance company: Ist Quote
Number of claims made in last 3 years: 0
Dogs age: 4,3.2.2.1
Dogs breed: 3 x Dobermanns, 1 staffy, I terrier mix

I've always had Syd with this company, The others have been with various companies but they are now all with the same one. Simple the figure quoted is based on me the owner and where I live, not the breed of dog I own and the price has remained the same throughout.

Number of dogs insured:2
Name of insurance company:Argos
Number of claims made in last 3 years:2 =£390
Dogs age:5,3
Dogs breed:Leonberger, Beardie X

the hike was due to a new underwriter they also go my claims wrong. when challenged they would not budge so i cancelled Both insurance. i now have a separate bank account saving £100 a month (as i also cancelled our health insurance)
if i went elsewhere i wouldnt be covered so this was the best option.

Last Years Premium: £47.26
This Years Premium: £89.34
Number of Dogs Ins: 1
Ins Comp: Sainburys
No of Claims in Last 3yrs: 1
Dogs Age: 8yrs
Breed: Leonberger

My Insurance Renewal came through this morning, its gone up by £505 Apparentley Leonbergers are more prone to injury than many other breeds therefore that is why my insurance has doubled to £1072

I have rung my other dog's insurer they will insure the Leo for £53pm excluding his exsisting conditions LP/PN

So I am now considering transferring him and putting away each month for the surgery for his LP Tie Back 'should' he need it (which will cost between £1200 & £1800 )

To Say I'm Fuming is putting it VERY blooming lightly
