If I see a sign saying X is 30 Kms. I make that 32 Kms (near enough for the purpose)

32 is two units of 16 so it's 20 miles (16 Kms being ten miles)

My method is to say "Dave how many miles is that"

I just asked him how he works it out and he said he looks at the speedo!!! There I was thinking he was clever

I can remember my Dad cussing when petrol went up to 1/6d (7.5p) a gallon, and my mum swearing to stop smoking when the cigs went up to 2/6d (12.5p) for 20. She didn't.
My Dad thought he'd overspent when he bought a second-hand Morris car for £300.

Funnily enough, the £25 I spent on getting Kali would have seemed expensive, but not excessive.

I remember you used to be able to get a lot of sweets for 3d. Penny chews, black jacks, fruit salads, frying pan lollies, tobermory tatties were all about 1d. Hmm no wonder I hated going to the dentist!!
