I remember it well
At Christmas, I had a budget of 2s for my friends, or 2/6 for good friends. A pound was a note and I got a ten shilling note from my gran on birthdays. And wasn't it heavy! I looked at my old collection not long ago, no wonder men's pockets were always in holes, the weight of a few coppers was quite something compared to modern coins! A tanner - my pocket money! (was thruppence, then I got a rise!)
At least you have dropped the half pence on the modern version. Being on Euro's here, we have 1 cent which are hardly big enough to pick up.

I was born in 73 so before my time.

It was easy enough here in Ireland converting over to euros. miles to km on the road signs is awful though. I still can't think in km

1 Kilometre = 0.6 Mile
1 Mile = 1.6 Km
